Main Goal
I'm 50 years old, for Pete's sake! I need to make some PERMANENT changes NOW! I want to be slender again and feel great. I am SICK, SICK, SICK of feeling poorly about myself and the way that I look. I really like myself when I am slender and I feel so much better!
Previous Diets
Cutting out sugar, mostly. High protein diets, cutting out carbs. Also tried just drinking Diet Coke all day. Slim-Fast, other diet shakes, tried those pills that are supposed to absorb most of the fat that you eat.
Favorite Workouts
Walking, Elliptical machine, weights, tennis, would like to be able to jog if I can lose some big weight. I'd also like to be able to ski again. I like to go to the gym and work out hard on the elliptical machine and the weight machines and then swim a few laps and take a steam sauna and sit in the jacuzzi for a few minutes and then shower - I feel like a new person when I do that.
Things To Do Before I Die
Ski a lot, jog a lot, maybe even enter a race. Be a GREAT grandmother - a skinny one. Be a much better wife and mother. Control my temper. Control my bad eating habits. Make healthy eating and exercising as enticing to my everyday lifestyle as reading or doing the crossword puzzle is now. I'd like to cook healthy meals for my family every day. And enjoy cooking! I'd also like to have a cleaner, more organized house on a daily basis. I'd also like to travel more. Mountain climbing? Definitely more hiking and beach-going and camping. Serve an LDS mission with my husband. Get all my scrapbooking current - ha!

About Me
I'm 50 and I've been overweight most of my life since I was about 29 - after my first pregnancy (and during). I've lost weight at times, but it always comes back. I've exercised regularly, but only in brief spurts, and joined gyms, and tried lots of diets, but I always go back to my old habits of unhealthy eating and not exercising.

Glad to see you back, post weigh in and post your weight, so we can cheer you on.

Hello! Thanks for accepting my invite! Please read my profile, if you have not already! I look forward to chatting with you about how you are doing with your weight loss. How much are you trying to lose and what diet are you on? I read a previous comment that talks about Blogging....I too have a website that I blog and enter my charts of what I have lost each week. I agree that this help tremedously especially if you give out the address to all your friends and family...it makes you accountable. I feel that this accountability has helped me alot. Take care and wishing you good dieting days!! ~Dawn~

Hi Cindy,
Sorry I've been out of touch for awhile. My father-in-law died and we've been super busy with the funerals and burial. But all is done now and life is slowly getting back to normal. Thanks for hanging in there with me, and I've actually been doing okay with dieting and exercising. Hope you are, too. Laurie

I just had to share with everyone, about a awesome drink you can make in the morning.
I have been reading Montels book, and he recommended this green stuff. yum!
In a blender, 1 orange, 1 bannana, and handful of leafy lettuce, yes, kiddos lettuce. You can't even taste the lettuce. Blend it all up, its nice and thick, you can add water if you wish...I use soy milk.
This stuff will give you more energy than a energizer bunny, plus its good for you.
You can make a whole pitcher of this stuff, set in fridge and drink when you want some.
Excellent!!

The best you can do for anyone is to thrive fully and be willing to explain to anyone who asks how it is that you are thriving, and what it is that you've discovered—and then, just relax and trust that all truly is well. ~Abraham-Hicks~
Eat healthy and exercise! Have people asking how you are thriving! :)
