About Me
I live in Southern MD, in an apartment with my boyfriend and room mate. This is my first apartment, and as you can imagine we don't always shop for healthy groceries. Since I moved out of my parents' house eight months ago, I've gained about 20 pounds. It needs to come off, and while I'm at it - I'll see if I can't manage to get that last 10 off to get me back down to 120. I'm giving Atkins a shot, and I'm feeling rather confident about it.

7 lbs is a great start. It's hard to stay focused and we all have setbacks. Keep that focus! :)

Atkins is good for the initial jump start but it easily peters out and in the long run it isn't super healthy. Don't get me wrong though, I've done it to drop a few pounds in a pinch.
The key to atkins is it is supposed to teach how to avoid excess carbs at main meals. Carbs are fine for a snack. Quick to eat, easily burned off and provides energy. My daily food intake, to lose what I have has been: Cereal or oatmeal for breakfast. (7am for me) 2 to 3 hours later a granola bar,carrots or fruit. 2 to 3 later, a can of tuna (This is after my gym workout) 2 hours later, a yogurt, two hours later a cookie or granola snack, and then dinner after I get home.
I also gave up soda and more importantly beer which was hard. :(

Glad you like the pic. When i saw it, I knew it was perfect for this site.
Healthy groceries are hard to maintain so remember the simple things that are easy to stock up. Yogurt (I "like" Dannon lite and fit), cereal bars, Kellog's 90 calorie bars, and the nabisco 100 calorie cookie packs. Haveing the small healthy snacks around will help you maintain a good diet so when you get that bad meal cause you have nothing else to make, you wont be nearly as hungry and will keep your portions small. I eat/snack 6 times a day minimum.
