Hi again...just thought I'd pop in and let you know that you got featured in the sites newsletter...which means LOTS of people are going to be clicking on your profile to check out what you’ve been up too. Nice timing huh? Lol! Just so you know, you can delete posts left on your profile in the ‘manage my profile link’. I'm just about to delete the stuff relating to this on my page, and I'll ask Tam to do the same if you like?

Not a problem Paul. You’ll need to get your address to me somehow. Have you got an email account I could contact you with? If you leave it on my profile I’ll delete it once I’ve got it written down. My profile is ‘private’ by the way...only ‘nice’ people get to view it :)

Once I get your address I’ll email Tam both our addresses so she can sort it all out. She’s having problems with paypal atm so intends on posting out bank cheque’s (Aussie spelling:)

I just checked in with Tam and she has agreed that if you still feel that you have been treated unfairly, she is happy to return the entire amount that you spent to participate in the challenge...which includes the joining fee of $10 which you paid to the administrators of the site.

I really hope you don’t leave the site with the wrong impression...most of us here are just normal people...we’ve all got our problems, have our ups and downs, and we’re all trying to group together to strive for a common goal. For the majority, our intentions are honorable...and we’re a forgiving bunch too :)

Oh, and just to let you know, I advised Tam to remove you from her friends list mainly to prevent what was happening from escalating (I'm guessing that you have probably already read my comment)...I’m sure she would gladly accept another friendship request once everything has cooled down :)

Hi Paul. I’ve seen what’s been going on between you and Tam concerning the challenge and I just thought I’d pop in and let you know that I left a reply on Tam’s page about my thoughts on it. Now, your not going to agree with them...but I’m hoping that once you calm down and look at it all objectively you’ll see exactly where Tam’s coming from...nobody did anything specifically to hurt anyone in particular...and in fact, it was done to keep things fair for all those concerned. This site works on the ‘honor system’ and that makes things very difficult sometimes...sometimes it’s necessary to make hard decisions. Please don’t think you were the only one targeted. The last time you were here the challenge had about 13 participants...after the cut, only 5 remained...so you definitely weren’t the only one to be disqualified for not participating.

From my understanding of what’s happening, you’re upset about losing the $25 you put toward the pot...if that’s the case...and after everything has been said and done you still feel that you’ve been treated unfairly, then maybe both Tam and I could come to some agreement on returning that to you. I’d have to discuss that with her first though.

Anyway...I hope that you’ll see things more clearly today and not take what’s happened personally. We’re all here trying our best to reach our goals and let’s face it...it aint easy. The challenges really do have a huge motivating effect and they’re what the site is all about...moderating them appropriately is key to encouraging the motivation of all concerned and I really believe Tam did that to the best of her ability. She informed everyone about every move she was planning to make...she left making the cut right up until the last week, which is more than some would have done. Tam didn’t run off with our money, which she could have done if she was so inclined, nothing was hidden from anyone and she was VERY patient with all those that weren’t participating. In the end it all boiled down to ‘fairness’ issues in regard to those who seemed to be putting in the effort compared to those who appeared not to be. I hope you can empathize with the whole process...the risks of upsetting others are part of the parcel...and the worst aspect.

You're right, it's easy to beat the system, so to speak. You can even go back and add your weight on any day you like since the very first day you joined WLW. Today, if you wanted to, you could make it look like you updated your stats for every day of the whole competition. Again, that was the point of participating. If you're there and interacting with other members, posting journal entries, etc. we know that you're an active member.

Thanks for contacting the administrators on this, Paul! We'll see what they have to say...

All the best,
Tamara

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your post. I really can see your point of view, and from your perspective, it makes sense. However, I can also see the other points of view. If you needed some grace because you were going out of town for an extended period of time, you could have said so and asked the group if that would be okay. Instead you just disappeared, without a word and reappeared only after the contest ended. In the meantime, other members were following the rules, updating stats, posting journal entries, interacting in the chat room and participating, but you were just gone.

It is not fair to the other members who were doing their part and could see that you were not. The rules were established at the begining so that there would not be issues like this at the end.

Here's an example that might make it more understandable... It's like if we're in a marathon and the other runners stay on the track, but one of them just leaves-- no one sees him, nobody knows where he is, and then POOF! he's back and crosses the finish line with everyone else. The runners who stayed on the track are naturally going to be upset if that guy is not disqualified. Rules are there for a reason-- to make it fair for everyone.

Or if a football player is told by the coach he can't play in the big game because he didn't practice with the rest of the team all week-- it doesn't matter if he's a great player. He could be the best player on the team, but he was missing during practice.

As to your comments about not seeing much difference in the other members before and after photos, I suppose that's subjective. I definitely see a difference, but the fact of the matter is that anyone with photoshop can have six pack abs these days. Photos aren't really proof. That is why we had rules that dilineated what you needed to do to be considered an active member. I figure anyone in the contest could cheat, but if they followed the rules of participation, they'd have to work really hard to claim the prize, even if they didn't lose the weight.

So, all that being said, I'm very happy to get the administrators involved and let them make the decision. I'm happy to abide by whatever they decide. I don't really think it's my decision, or yours, to make since so many other people were involved. You can go ahead and contact them as you proposed and I will await their response.

All the best,
Tamara

PS- Hey Paul, updating your pics weekly was not a requirement. Just wanted to clarify that.
