Lost 32 lbs.

About Me

I'm a fat ole grandaddy and getting bigger by the day. Soon I will need a forklift to get out of my house.

I'm originally from New Orleans, La. I have two children and four grandchildren and one on the way, would you believe I'm only 44 years old, just got an early start. Well now it's just me and my wife of 23 years. We are in the prime of our lives a time when we should be able to enjoy traveling, walks in the park, or bicycling. Instead we stay in the house too tired to do anything but sleep and watch TV.

When I left the Army in 1989 I was a solid 210 lbs. Since then I've been steadily gaining about 5 to 7 lbs a year. There have been times when I have lost 40 and 50lbs, but you know the deal, it's all comes back and brings friends. My problem is consistency, I'll do good for maybe 2 or 3 months then slack off and before you know it it's been 6 months to a year since I last worked out. Strangely I've always had a knack for motivating everyone but myself.

This time I want to immerse myself into an environment with people that have the same goals. I invite anyone to take this journey with me.

Hi Jazzy, It was nice hearing from you. Thanks for letting me know about the Featured Member in this weeks news letter. I was very surprise. The Good news was short live, considering I gain weight during the holidays (smile). Oh well, can't cry over spill milk. Time to re-focus and do this thang.

I will write more journals too. You are so cute and positive! I love it! Thank you for keeping the rest of us fatties going. Ha ha ha. Just kidding! Happy Thanksgiving Jazzy.

Jazzy,

I have been reading your journals and they are very inspiring to me. You are brutally honest about yourself, and I think that is something most of us are afraid to be. It is hard to admit failure, and it is hard to realize what our true obstacles really are. You will be successful in managing your health, because you are looking at this as a long term way of living, not a fast weight loss plan. I commend and admire you for being brave enough to share your challenges with the rest of the world. When I am feeling down I am going to review your comments for truth and motivation. Thank you for working so hard at being disciplined and for helping the rest of us in this life long journey.

Hello Gerald. It's going pretty good. I am working out in the gym since the weather has changed to bitterly cold. The Holidays are going to be rough on me especially sweet potatoe pie. HAHAHAHA!!! -Kim

What up Jazzy, thank you for sending me those words of encouragement. I need it because I dont want to excerise lately. I keep making excuses. I will get onthe ball soon because like you said the eating holidays are right aroud the corner. You are such a positive person, thank you, stay sweet.

Hey Gerard. Things are fine here in KC, not looking forward to the cold that's fast approaching but that means I can get back to hardcore training like in Rocky running down the cold streets in the morning with nothing but music playing and determination in my eyes. It's time for me to get back to it and the next competition starts Monday. I looked at your progress and you have been doing great. Keep it up man and stay focused! I also noticed you like the Body For Life method and that's great. I lost 70+ on that and it really got me into fitness. It's a solid plan. Anyway, good luck with your program and keep in touch.

Jazzy,it's nice hearing from you again. I am in a real funk right now and I haven't been able to figure my way out of it. Maybe I'm hibernating! I'll get it right at some point. I've missed your positive points of view!

All right W L Warriors it's Fall and Winter is fast approaching and you know what that means. This is the time when we tend to be less active. Not to mention we eat more (maybe out of boredom?). Also, don't forget many will be celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. You also know what that means, FOOD, FOOD, and more FOOD. Let's not wait until January 2, 2009 to think about what we should have done. Now is the time to form our battle plans. Maybe we can start a winter challenge.

Hi jazzy, Thanks for stopping by with your words of encouragement. OK you, in Sept, you said - "back on the saddle now and ready to ride". I'M HOLDING YOU TO THAT. Let's get back in the game and do this thang..(smile)
