About Me

I have always had a problem with weight. In Sept 2002 I weighed 255 lbs. By my wedding in Aug 2003 I had managed to lose 100lbs by exercising and watching how much I ate. In Feb 2005 I became pregnant and it all went downhill from there. I went right back to the same fat me after I gave birth. Learning how to function with a child has been difficult for me. But I am finally ready to get back into my clothes and feel healthy again!

Hi Sandy. How are you? I hope your beginning to feel better. You’re probably right about your foot being the cause of your depression. Constant pain can just wear you down and sometimes the medications you take for it can have a depressing effect on our moods too. Try and stay positive and keep reassuring yourself that this will pass.
Good luck with your goals today. I’m thinking about you.

Hey there. How are you doing this week? After my little gain from last weeks antics I've been really good so far this week. I hope your doing better too? The first day was soooo hard...but I buckled down and got through it without any junk or over indulging and it made me feel more confident. The next day it felt a little easier to stick with it. Today I felt a lot better so I’m using that to keep me going. When you’ve been down for so long a little break from it really makes an impression...it’s getting started while your feeling ‘blah’ that’s hard, but you can do it!!

Hi Sandy,

I first "encountered you" when I was browsing the "adventures in inhealth" & I saw your journal entry. You referenced, "my poor feet" & I told you about the problems I've had with plantar fasitis (or however it's spelled!). I was just reading over a couple of entries in your journal since you added me as a friend :} & I see that you also have it.

My feet are sooo much better than they used to be!!! My boss told me that she used to have a major problem with that also & that she would scruntch her feet inside her shoes several times/day (her dr. told her about it). When I first started, I could only do a few in a row before it got so uncomfortable that I had to stop, but I quickly was able to do more & more. This helped quite a bit!

The other thing that helped me was totally unanticipated. I bought a really high quality pair of boots. They were originally like $150, but I got them on clearance (yea!) Anyhow, they have a really good padding along the heal/arch line. I had some cheap winter boots that had some padding that actually hurt to walk on once I had plantar fas. Well, my new boots have a 1.5 inch heel, so the majority of my weight is absorbed by the "balls" or top portion of the soles of my feet. I think this has helped take the pressure off the inflammed tendon, which is allowing it to heal. I don't know if heels would help, probably not as much. I hate heels b/c they have always made my feet hurt. I think the boots are better because your foot doesn't slide forward in your boot like it does in heels. Horrible contraptions!
